Saw this article and wanted to pass it on:

Things I Can Say About MFA Writing Programs Now That I No Longer Teach in One

                                                 by Ryan Boudinot

I love a good debate and this article sparked one on The Passive Voice. I’m amazed that I managed to stay out of the comments and just lurk. Many of my Passive Voice friends jumped in and I thought I’d link to it here as there is a lot of good information in the comments.

I thought it was a good article and agreed with the majority of what the author had to say minus one glaring point. With that said I will call attention to the ageism in the original post.

I self-published in my forties and am doing well. Others are far older. Check out John Ellsworth. Here is a man in his seventies who is doing very well. John is one of many examples of people finding success at this game despite a system that tried to label them as too old. He blows the agism meme out of the water for all of us, present and future.

I’ll say it again.

It’s never too late to write your story.
